The rules

Since I haven't figured out how to post a link to a document on BlogSpot yet, here are the rules of the TGBL. I'm sure they aren't complete. For example, exactly how much the winner gets is still undetermined. (Assume nobody's getting rich.)

If anyone has any great ideas to add to the rules (provided they don't add a bunch of work to maintainance and upkeep) please send them along.

TADICH GRILL BASEBALL LEAGUE - Rules and Regulations
Objective

  • To accumulate the most points by earned by selected Major League Baseball Players hitting home runs during the 2012 season.

Rosters & Players

  • Each team has a roster of six MLB players. Four are active. The fifth player is on the "bench" and the sixth is on the "DL".
  • Players shall be initially selected in a random order, snake-style draft.
  • Roster moves may only be made on Mondays.
  • New players must be claimed by 5 p.m. PST. The change will take effect the next day.
  • If more than one team claims a player, the team lowest in the standings at 9 a.m. PST will get that player.
  • Any player may be sent to the DL regardless of whether he is actually on the MLB disabled list. However, once the player is placed on the DL, he may not be activated for two weeks.
  • Players are non-transferrable. No trades are allowed.
  • Dropped players will be ineligible for claim until the following Monday.
  • Rosters lock at 5 p.m. the first Monday of September.
  • All six roster members are active during the postseason.
  • You may keep one player from your final roster for the 2013 season.

Scoring

  • 1 point for each HR in a regular season game (3 point bonus for a Grand Slam)
  • 2 points for each HR in the All-Star Game (3 point bonus for a Grand Slam)
  • 4 points for the player winning the Home Run Derby
  • 2 points for each HR in the League Division Series/Wild Card Playoffs (3 point bonus for a Grand Slam)
  • 3 points for each HR in the League Championship Series (3 point bonus for a Grand Slam)
  • 4 points for each HR in the World Series (3 point bonus for a Grand Slam)

Fine print

  • Entry fee: $20 per team. One person may own more than one team, but players are non-transferrable.
  • 100% of the entry fees will be paid out as prizes. The distribution of said prizes will depend on the number of teams, but generally the winner will receive 40-50% of the prizes, and 40% of the teams entered will win some prize of some sort.
  • Any conditions not specifically covered by these rules will be left to the discretion of the Tadministrator, such as he is.

Fine, I'll use Blogger.

That's what I get for trying Opera, I guess.

I'll have more when I figure this all out. Until then, here's the Grantland article that inspired this chicanery, and here's the restaurant that I've loved so much my entire life. I am hoping we can have the end-of-season banquet there.
